This vote is to approve or reject the creation and initial funding phase of the ‘Onboarding Project', as proposed here.
- If approved, a new Github repository called ‘project-onboarding’ will be created and maintained containing all associated project files.
- If approved, an amendment to AIP-007 would be made to add ‘Onboarding Project’ to the list of projects. It’s current status would be listed as ACTIVE along with relevant information such as project lead, funding status, spending caps, start and expiration dates.
Breakdown
This will be an overview of the project proposal. For full details please refer to the project repository
Project Purpose
At Arrow, a strong community of contributors is essential to our success. We will always need to address how we can improve the onboarding process to bring more people in and align them to our mission. The purpose of this project is:
"To empower community members to contribute to Arrow’s mission by providing a welcoming, informative, and supportive environment that fosters unparalleled remote collaboration, learning, and growth.”
Project Scope
The project’s first round of funding will be used to address and improve:
- Arrow’s website
- Arrow’s documentation
- Arrow’s onboarding documentation i.e. guides to contributing
Timeline
The sub-projects outlined above will run sequentially (1>2>3) and each should take between 4-6 weeks to complete. It is expected these three milestones will be complete by June 15th, 2025.
- Arrow’s website (March to April)
- Arrow’s documentation (April to May)
- Arrow’s onboarding documentation (May to June)
Project Leader
I, Sleety, am putting myself forward as inaugural Project Leader for ‘Onboarding’.
Cost Breakdown
The funding amount requested for the scope of this proposal is $18,300 with a expiration date for project funding set for June 15th, 2025.
Labor: $12,500
Gitbook Subscription (annual fee): $3,800
Contributor incentive pot: $1,500
Miscellaneous costs (webflow, loom, ai integration): $500
Deliverables
Milestone 1: Website
A refreshed website that is reflective of Arrow’s mission. The intention is for it to be biased towards clear and persuasive typography-led copy, alongside non-distracting imagery. AIP-008 will be the north star for the refreshed copy. The exact site map is to be determined by group meeting but will most likely include landing page, mission/about page, how to contribute, roadmap, community, bounty board, snapshot page.
Budget for this milestone: $6,500
Milestone 2: Documentation
- A docs.arrowair.com built on the GitBook platform
- well thought out and researched implementation
- Thorough accompanying style guide
Budget for this milestone: $7,800
Milestone 3: Onboarding Documentation
- 20+ step-by-step guides to organizational processes
- adhering strictly to style guide established in previous milestone
- complete with media (video, graphics, diagrams) to make engaging with these docs a nice experience.
Budget for this milestone: $4,000
A multisig wallet will be established after approval to receive funds. The seats on the multisig will be; Project Leader (Sleety) and GBC.
Who is doing the work.
I am Gavin / Sleety and I’ve been involved with Arrow from the start. I’ve grown with Arrow and thought about how we can be better for years now. I’m an experienced graphic designer and animator. The wonderful thing about Arrow is that it allows me to seek concave approval from the community and execute in a familiar convex way.
I am looking forward to making Arrow a more organised and more user-friendly place to help build the future of aviation!
